Hope in Action/Real Life
Jesus wept. You can too.
Grieving
People will rush you. God will not. Loss is real. Hope is also real. You do not have to pick only one.
We do not grieve as those with no hope
First Thessalonians 4 gives permission to grieve and a reason not to drown. Because Jesus got up, death is not the last line. That does not make the missing smaller. It makes the future larger.
Say their name. Cry. Take the next hour. The Comforter is a Person, not a cliché.
“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (NKJV)
Let a family sit with you
Job’s friends did well until they started talking. Sometimes we will just sit. Sometimes we will pray the Word. Come when you can stand it. Stay home and send a request when you cannot.
You are not forgotten.
“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.”
Psalm 34:18 (NKJV)
You do not have to figure this out alone
Come sit with people who are living this out.
Church Four Eighteen is a family in Titusville learning to receive what Jesus already finished — and to put hope in action. Saturdays at 5:00 PM. Kids are welcome. Come as you are.
