Hope in Action/Answers
Not to change the Father’s heart. To deal with sin’s claim on yours.
Why Did Jesus Have to Die?
If God is love, why the cross? Because love that ignores evil is not love. Sin is not a paperwork problem. It is death working in a human race that stepped out from under God’s Word. Jesus did not die to convince a reluctant Father to like you. He died to remove the thing that separated you, and to give you His life in its place.
The cross was an exchange, not a performance
Second Corinthians 5:21 is the gospel in one line. He who knew no sin was made sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. That is not God pretending. That is God transferring. Your sin went on Jesus. His righteousness is offered to you as a gift.
Works could not get you there. Religion could not get you there. Only a sinless substitute could. Grace is not God lowering the bar. It is God meeting it in your place.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

He did it while you were still a mess
Romans 5:8 says Christ died for us while we were still sinners. You do not clean up to deserve the cross. You receive what the cross already purchased. Faith does not twist God’s arm. Faith takes the gift.
If you have wondered whether God needs more pain from you before He will be kind, look at Jesus. The payment is finished. Come receive it. Then live like someone who has been made new.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
