Hope in Action/Answers

A stone in the north of Israel said “House of David.” The debate shifted.

Does Archaeology Prove King David Existed?

For years some scholars treated David like King Arthur with a harp — a useful national myth. Then, in 1993, at Tel Dan in northern Israel, excavators found a broken victory stele from an Aramean king. In the letters was a phrase that made headlines: the House of David. A foreign enemy, carving in stone, treated David’s dynasty as a real royal house.

Enemies do not invent your kings to be polite

Sites like Tel Dan matter because the Bible’s geography is not impressionistic. Dan was Israel’s northern marker. The inscription is not a Sunday-school craft. It is a ninth-century BC political boast, and it names the dynasty Scripture said was there.

One find does not prove every psalm. It does knock down the claim that David is a fiction. The Bible’s kings keep showing up in other people’s records.

“And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”

2 Samuel 7:16 (NKJV)

The Son of David is not a metaphor either

If David’s house was real, the promise attached to it is not poetry you can shrink. Jesus is called the Son of David because God keeps covenant in history, not in slogans.

Come hear a church that treats the Old Testament as a real story heading toward a real Messiah.

“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.”

Matthew 1:1 (NKJV)
