Not centuries later. Inside the lifetime of the witnesses.
How Early Were the New Testament Documents Written?
A common story says the New Testament was assembled by a committee hundreds of years after Jesus, once the facts were uncheckable. The paper trail says otherwise. Paul’s letters are from the 50s. The creed inside 1 Corinthians 15 is earlier still. The Gospels are first-century documents, not medieval inventions.
A creed older than the ink it was written in
Scholars across the spectrum admit: 1 Corinthians 15 contains an early creed — Jesus died, was buried, was raised, and appeared — that Paul received and passed on. Many date that creed to within a few years of the crucifixion, some to months. That is not folklore. That is a news report still warm.
If the resurrection were a legend that grew in the dark, it would not show up this early, this specific, with names attached.
“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NKJV)

Living memory is a terrible time to invent a god
You do not start a movement in the city that killed your leader by making up an empty tomb they can walk over and check. The timeline is a gift. It means the first church was not selling a myth. They were announcing an event.
Come hear that announcement treated as news. Saturday at 5:00 PM, Titusville.
“Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us.”
Luke 1:1-2 (NKJV)
