Hope in Action/Answers
Tongues is a gift. Jesus is the door.
Do I Have to Speak in Tongues to Be Saved?
Some of you were told you were not really in if you never spoke in tongues. Some of you were told tongues is fake and you should be suspicious of anyone who does. Both miss the New Testament. Salvation is the new birth. Tongues is a gift the Spirit still gives. You can be fully saved, fully loved, and still have more of the Spirit to receive.
The door is a Person, not a prayer language
Romans 10:9 — if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That verse does not add a footnote about tongues. The thief on the cross did not take a class. He trusted a dying King.
Anyone who makes tongues the ticket is adding to the gospel. Anyone who mocks the gift is subtracting from the Spirit. We will do neither.
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

Desire the gifts. Do not worship them
Paul said I wish you all spoke with tongues, and then spent a chapter putting the gift in order for love’s sake. First Corinthians 12 says the Spirit distributes as He wills. You can ask. You can wait. You cannot be bullied.
Come to a church that welcomes the Holy Spirit without turning people into projects. Jesus is enough to get you in. He is also enough to fill you after.
“But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
1 Corinthians 12:11 (NKJV)
