Hope in Action/Answers

Magic impresses. A miracle restores.

Are Biblical Miracles Just Magic Tricks?

It is easy to file miracles under “pre-scientific.” That is a tidy way to keep God in the past. Jesus did not heal to put on a show. He healed because people were oppressed and the Father is good.

Not sleight of hand — a Person

Magic manipulates. Miracles are God intervening in a broken world He never designed to stay broken. When Jesus opened blind eyes, it was Luke 4:18 in motion: recovery of sight to the blind. When He raised Lazarus, it was a preview of His own grave.

The people who watched Him were not gullible children. They were fishermen, tax collectors, and skeptics who later died rather than recant.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV)

He has not retired

The same Spirit who anointed Jesus anoints His church. We do not chase spectacles. We do expect God to still heal, still deliver, still answer. Hope in action is not nostalgia.

If you need a miracle, you do not need a magician. You need Jesus, the Word, and people who will believe with you.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 10:38 (NKJV)
