Hope in Action/Answers
Sickness is not a gift from the Father.
Does God Allow Good People to Get Sick or Die?
Does God allow good people to get sick or die? If you have sat in a waiting room and wondered whether God is trying to teach someone a lesson through a diagnosis, you are not the first. At Church Four Eighteen we will not put God’s name on sickness. Jesus did not.
Sickness entered through the fall, not through the Father
Death and disease were not in Genesis 1. They entered when sin entered. Romans 5 says death spread to all people because of sin — not because God needed a teaching tool. Jesus spent His ministry healing, never inflicting.
If God were the author of cancer, then Jesus would have been fighting the Father every time He healed. He was not. He was doing the Father’s will.
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
Acts 10:38 (NKJV)
By His stripes you were healed
Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2 do not speak of healing as a maybe. They speak of it as part of the finished work. Jesus bore sickness as surely as He bore sin. Faith does not twist God’s arm. Faith receives what grace has already provided.
Physical death is still an enemy, and it is the last enemy Jesus will put under His feet. Until then, we pray, we stand, we love people through the valley, and we refuse to call the valley God’s idea.
“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”
1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)
You do not have to figure this out alone
Come sit with people who are living this out.
Church Four Eighteen is a family in Titusville learning to receive what Jesus already finished — and to put hope in action. Saturdays at 5:00 PM. Kids are welcome. Come as you are.
