Helping the Poor
Jesus announced good news to the poor first. A church named Four Eighteen cannot treat the poor as a side project. We also cannot treat them as a prop. People have names.
Gospel and bread
James is blunt about faith without works toward a brother without clothes. We preach Christ, and we open a hand. Both. Either one alone is thinner than the New Testament.
Ask the Spirit who. Then do the next obvious thing.
“If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?”
