Hope in Action/Answers
He does not come from anywhere. He is.
Where Does God Come From?
Children ask it. Philosophers dress it up. At 2 a.m. it can feel like the question underneath every other question: if everything needs a cause, who caused God? The Bible’s answer is not a riddle. It is a name.
The I AM has no beginning
When Moses asked for a name, God said, “I AM WHO I AM.” Created things have a start date. God does not. Psalm 90 says from everlasting to everlasting, He is God. He is not the oldest being in the universe. He is the reason there is a universe.
If God had a beginning, He would be a creature, and we would still be looking for the real God behind Him. An uncreated source is not a cop-out. It is the only kind of God who can actually be God.
“And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’””
Exodus 3:14 (NKJV)
You were made to know Him, not to complete Him
God does not need you in order to exist. That would be a fragile deity. He wants you because love is who He is. The gospel is not you helping God feel less lonely. It is God inviting you into the life He has always had.
You do not have to have every philosophical knot untied before you can trust Him. You can meet the I AM the same way Moses did — by drawing near to a God who already drew near to you.
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”
Psalm 90:2 (NKJV)
You do not have to figure this out alone
Come sit with people who are living this out.
Church Four Eighteen is a family in Titusville learning to receive what Jesus already finished — and to put hope in action. Saturdays at 5:00 PM. Kids are welcome. Come as you are.
