Hope in Action/Answers

Jesus talked about Noah as if the water had actually risen.

Was There a Global Flood?

Every culture remembers a flood. Genesis names a reason: a world that grieved the heart of God, a family that found grace, a judgment that reset the earth. Del Tackett’s Is Genesis History? and its sequels walk canyons, fossil beds, and folded rock and ask whether millions of years of calm, or a catastrophic flood, better fit what we see. The Bible is not shy. The windows of heaven opened.

The layers look like a catastrophe, not a quiet library

Massive sedimentary layers, fossils of sea creatures on high ground, canyons carved through stacked beds — the Is Genesis History scientists argue these read more like a flood’s wreckage than a slow garden. You do not have to master geology to notice that Jesus, Peter, and the author of Hebrews treat Noah as a man in a real boat, not a mascot.

God is not the thief. Judgment in Scripture is God refusing to let evil run forever. The ark is mercy with a door.

“So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.”

Genesis 7:23 (NKJV)

The flood was not God having a mood. It was a world being spared a worse forever

Then He hung a bow in the cloud and made a covenant. The God of the flood is the same God who would later put His own Son in the path of judgment so you would not have to be. That is not a cruel deity. That is a Savior with a long memory and a longer mercy.

Come hear Genesis as the start of the gospel, not as an embarrassment.

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Matthew 24:37 (NKJV)
