Hope in Action/Answers

A mere good teacher does not say the things He said.

Was Jesus a Liar, a Lunatic, or Lord?

People like the option where Jesus is inspiring and undemanding. That option does not survive His actual sentences. He claimed to forgive sins, to be one with the Father, to be the only way, to rise from the dead. C.S. Lewis pressed the point: those are not the words of a modest guru. You have three honest boxes left.

Good teachers do not claim to be God

If Jesus knew He was not who He said He was, He was a liar of a cruel kind — the kind who lets people die for a fraud. If He sincerely thought He was God and was not, He was not a sage. He was unwell. Nice men do not talk like John 8 and John 14 unless they are telling the truth.

The resurrection breaks the first two boxes. Liars stay dead. Lunatics stay dead. Jesus did not stay dead. Lord is not the dramatic option. It is the remaining one.

“I and My Father are one.”

John 10:30 (NKJV)

Lord is not a title you pin on Him. It is a Person you receive.

Calling Jesus Lord is not flattery. It is agreeing with reality. Thomas did it with his hands on the wounds. You can do it with your whole life. He is not after your applause. He is after you.

If you have admired Jesus from a safe distance, this is the invitation to come closer. Church Four Eighteen would be honored to walk that out with you.

“And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!””

John 20:28 (NKJV)
