Hope in Action/Answers
Jesus did not treat him as a metaphor.
Is the Devil Real?
Modern people often keep God as an idea and demote the devil to a cartoon. Jesus did the opposite of that. He cast out demons, resisted the tempter, and said the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Ignoring an enemy does not make you sophisticated. It makes you unprotected. The good news is he is not a rival god. He is a defeated one.
A created rebel, not a dark side of God
Lucifer was not always the devil. Pride turned a created being into an adversary. He is not God’s opposite number in a dualistic tie. First John 3:8 — the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. That is invasion, not a draw.
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. Do not baptize the devil’s work as the Father’s mysterious plan. Resist him. James 4:7 still works.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
1 John 3:8 (NKJV)

You do not fight for victory. You fight from it
Colossians 2 says Jesus disarmed principalities at the cross. Your job is not to become impressive enough to scare darkness. Your job is to stand in what Jesus already finished — the Word, the name, the blood, a church family that will not romanticize the thief.
If you feel oppressed, say so. Come get prayer. You are not crazy, and you are not helpless.
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 (NKJV)
