God is light — and in Him is no darkness at all.
Did God Create Evil?
If God made everything, it is a fair question: did He make evil too? That question sits heavy when the news is dark, or when something unjust has touched your own family. The Bible does not shrug. It shows us a God who is light — and a Savior who came to undo evil, not to author it.
God is not a mixture of good and bad
Some pictures of God treat Him like a coin with two sides: blessing on one, disaster on the other. Scripture will not let us live there. When God finished creating, He called it very good. James says every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, with no shadow of turning.
Evil is not a created “thing” God mixed into the world. It is rebellion against His nature. Light does not produce darkness. Love does not produce hate. The character of God is the starting line, or the rest of the Bible will not make sense.
“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”

Where evil actually came from
God gave His creation genuine choice. Lucifer used that freedom to exalt himself. Adam used it to step out from under God’s Word. That is how death, sickness, and injustice entered a world God had called good. The thief — not the Father — comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
God did not create a monster and then stand behind it. He created people in His image and honored the authority He gave them. That is a far better Father than a puppet-master who authors evil to make a point.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil
The gospel is not God making peace with evil. It is God in Christ invading a stolen world to take it back. First John says the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. Calvary was not God punishing you with darkness. It was God breaking darkness’s claim on you.
You do not have to make peace with evil as if it were God’s secret will. You can resist it, receive life, and stand with a church family that believes God is as good as His Word says He is.
