Hope in Action/Answers
He did not subtract deity. He added humanity.
How Can Jesus Be Both God and Man?
It sounds like a riddle until you see why it had to be both. If He is not God, He cannot save you. If He is not man, He cannot represent you. The incarnation is not a math problem. It is a rescue. God came as one of us without stopping being Himself.
Fully God, fully man — for you
John 1:14 does not say the Word turned into a man and left Godhood behind. It says the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Colossians says the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily. He got tired. He wept. He was tempted. He never sinned. He still upheld all things by the word of His power.
This is why He can be touched with the feeling of your weakness and still be mighty to save. He is not a half-god with a human hobby. He is Immanuel — God with us.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14 (NKJV)

The God who came near is the God you can know
You do not have to understand every mystery of the incarnation before you can trust the Incarnate One. You need to see that the Father was not sending a deputy. He was coming Himself, in the Son, by the Spirit.
If God has felt far, start with the Gospels. Watch Jesus treat people. That is how God treats people. Church Four Eighteen would love to open those pages with you.
“Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
Hebrews 1:3 (NKJV)
