Hope in Action/Answers
The high priest who pushed for the cross left a box of bones with his name on it.
Have We Found the Tomb of Caiaphas?
In 1990 a tomb in Jerusalem yielded an ornate bone box inscribed “Joseph son of Caiaphas.” Scholars widely connect it to the high priest named in the Gospels and in Josephus. The man who said it was better for one man to die than for the nation to perish is not a stock character. He was a priest of a powerful family, and his name survived in stone.
The people in the passion narrative keep turning up
This is the habit of the dirt: the supporting cast of the Gospels is not anonymous. Pilate on a dedication stone. Caiaphas on an ossuary. The world of the trial is first-century Judea, not a morality play.
You can still reject Jesus. What you cannot honestly do is say these people were invented last week.
“And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.””
John 11:49-50 (NKJV)

He meant it for politics. God meant it for you
Caiaphas thought he was saving a system. God was providing a Lamb. The archaeology makes the room real. The gospel makes the room personal.
Come hear why that one man’s death is not a tragedy God failed to stop — it is the finished work.
“Now this he did not say on his own authority; but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad.”
John 11:51-52 (NKJV)
