Hope in Action/Real Life

You are not trying to get God's attention. You already have it.

Prayer

If prayer has felt like leaving voicemails for a distant boss, no wonder you got tired. Jesus did not teach His friends to perform. He taught them to talk to a Father who already knows, already cares, and already provided.

Pray as a child, not as a beggar

Jesus began with “Our Father.” That is the whole atmosphere of New Covenant prayer. You are not trying to twist God’s arm. You are agreeing with what He has already said in His Word.

Faith comes by hearing, and prayer that works is prayer that prays the Word — not because God forgot, but because you are taking your place in a finished work.

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.

Matthew 6:9 (NKJV)

Be specific, be thankful, be persistent

Philippians 4 says be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known. Anxiety shrinks when requests are actually voiced to God.

If you do not know where to start, start honest. Then open the Word and pray it back. We will pray with you at C418 — Saturday, after service, or through a prayer request this week.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)
