If it is wrong to torture a child, there is a Lawgiver.
Where Do Morals Come From If There Is No God?
Everyone has a line they will not let you cross. We argue about where it sits, but almost no one lives as if nothing is truly wrong. That instinct is not an evolutionary trick you should outgrow. It is a sign you were made in someone’s image.
Atheism can describe morals. It cannot ground them.
Here is a simple test: is it wrong to torture a child for fun? If you say yes — really yes, not “I personally dislike it” — then you have admitted a moral law that sits above cultures and votes. Molecules in motion do not get to issue that verdict.
You can inherit a sense of fairness from parents. You cannot inherit an obligation from chemistry. If good and evil are only preferences, then justice is a mood. You do not live that way, and neither do the people who say they do.
“Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.”
Romans 2:15 (NKJV)

The Lawgiver is also a Father
The point of the moral law is not to leave you condemned. It is to show you that you already know you need mercy. Jesus did not come to lower the standard. He came to meet it, then offer His righteousness as a gift.
At Church Four Eighteen we will not scold you into being good. We will point you to the God who wrote the law on your heart and then wrote your name in His book. Grace does not erase right and wrong. It restores you to the One who defines them.
“For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves.”
Romans 2:14 (NKJV)
